The Balkan Press, through its books, prizes, and magazine (Conclave), seeks poetry, fiction, and nonfiction of exceptional literary merit. The work we seek has a transcendent aesthetic impact on the reader. It is not merely about the mystery of being, but heightens the reader’s sense of the mystery underlying the fabric of our daily lives. We are looking for work about character or work that displays character, that holds it up to a fresh light and helps readers see what they did not see before.

Babylon Books is accepting manuscript submissions. We are looking for writers interested in committing to a series of fast-paced, well-written novels in a popular genre.

Recent publications: The Jaguar Queen by Betsey Kulakowski and Never Call Me Vampire by Tamara Grantham.

Manuscripts must be uploaded in a single word doc, docx, pdf, or rtf file. We are an environmentally conscious press and submissions must be made through Submittable or through our website: www.babylonbooks.org.

Include a cover letter with a brief description of the book and series, then upload the first three chapters.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as we are notified immediately through Submittable if your work is chosen elsewhere.

Your submission acknowledges that you understand and agree to all guidelines.

Babylon Books releases all titles in both trade paperback and e-book format, and in some cases, audiobook and hardcover formats.

Questions should be directed to: wb@williambernhardt.com
